The only explanation that Job’s friends could find for why Job was suffering was to think it was because he had done something wicked. Their theology only left room for the wicked to suffer. Yet, we learn from the story of Job, that the righteous will face suffering and persecution as well. God is good and does not punish us according to our sins. Jesus took our punishment for us. The suffering we walk through will always be used for good. Nothing is ever wasted in God’s kingdom.
